Too risqué for viewers! Controversial television show Skins cancelled by MTV


End: MTV has cancelled teen show Skins after a firestorm of controversy regarding its risqué content
The show was a cult hit in the UK and like many other British television exports was brought over to America to try and recreate the same success.But Skins did not connect with U.S. viewers and has now been cancelled by MTV.The show, which was one of the most talked about dramas in the past year, premiered in January to an initial audience of 3.3million viewers but it had gone down to 1.2million by the season finale.

The show had caused a firestorm of controversy with its risqué content.The network's spokesman Nathaniel Brown said today that the show will not be returning for season two.'Skins is a global television phenomenon that, unfortunately, didn't connect with a U.S. audience as much as we had hoped'.

Unpopular: MTV's spokesman said that the show did not 'connect with a U.S. audience' and will not be back for a second season
